"ESOTERIC YOUTH – ‘Demo’ (Night Terrors)
Five tracks of blackened, raging noise from newly-formed Northern outfit Esoteric Youth. After the relative calm of doom-laden intro ‘Waldensamkeit’, the remainder of this demo is a chaotic, frenetic slice of scuzzed-up hardcore depravity, with throat-straining vitriolic vocals and super pissed-off vocals. The occasional use of blood-curdling screams as backing vocals adds an extra level of intensity to proceedings, and even the hint of a more expansive sound on ‘Litost’ does nothing to detract from the ferocity on display here. A powerful slice of bleak hardcore anguish that’s well worth checking out."
